What is the Jacket Regiment?
The Jacket Regiment is the award winning North Augusta High School Band.  The band program is comprised of students in all grades.  These students participate in both marching and class band.  Band 3 and 4 are Honor Courses and receive Honor Credit towards your GPA and graduation requirements!

When does Jacket Regiment practice?
The Jacket Regiment practices every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday after school.  These practices take place on our band field from 3:45 PM until 6:00 PM.  These practices conclude at the end of the competitive marching season, or after a fall trip.

What is the competitive marching season?
The competitive marching season takes place from the end of September until the end of October.  Jacket Regiment competes with high standards, and earned its first appearance in fifteen years at the State Marching Band Championships in 2004.  Standards have been set and it is the intent of the band staff and members to continue representing our school and community at this level.

Where are these competitions?
For the time being, all of our competitions take place in South Carolina.  Contests are held all over the state during the later part of September that leads up to our state sanctioned Lower State and State Championships.  We hope that in the near future the Jacket Regiment will begin competing on the National level!

Why compete?
Competition is part of human nature.  In order to have a well-balanced program, the Jacket Regiment competes in marching events.  The band program also participates in all other South Carolina Band Directors Association activities.  These activities are Region/All-State Band, Concert Band Festival, Winterguard Championships, Winter Drumline Championships, and Solo & Ensemble Festival.  Members of the Jacket Regiment members are taught that competition is healthy and all aspects of the risk of competition are addressed.

Do we have band camp?
Yes, the Jacket Regiment has band camp during the summer.  We will have four mini-camps that will take place from late June until camp starts.  The Jacket Regiment will practice for two weeks at NAHS. Our entire fall schedule may be found online at www.northaugustaband.org

Mini-Camp Dates
We hold mini-camps through the summer to train new members and keep everybody motivated and playing his/her instrument. If you are in town, you are required to attend these practices.
June 23rd, June 30th, July 14th, July 21st
Practices run from 6pm till 9pm  This is a tentative schedule and may be adjusted.

When is band camp?

Pre-Camp for Percussion and Guard will held on July 22nd through July 24th.
Times will be from 8 am until 12 pm (noon)

Band Camp Dates at North Augusta High School for all winds, percussion and guard.
July 27th through July 30th   8:00-6:00 and July 31st will be 8:00-12:00 (noon)
August 3rd through August 6th  8:00-6:00 and August 7th will be 8:00-12:00 (noon)
August 11th and August 13th  Jacket Regiment will practice from 6pm till 9pm.

Lunch is provided Monday through Thursday of camp during the first week of camp.  Members will be required to bring their own lunch the 2nd week of camp.  Snacks will be provided both weeks.

This camp/practice schedule will allow us to maximize time before school starts and manage keeping the after school schedule the same as this year.  Our schedule is actually less demanding than other school activities and other groups throughout the state.  Attendance is required for participation.  Band camp will be held at North Augusta High School.

How much does it cost to be in band?
The Jacket Regiment fee is $250.00 and helps offset expenses that run our band program.  This fee is applied to all facets of our program.  The remaining funds needed are fundraised.  This fee is also much lower than surrounding bands due to the fact that our fundraising has been a success! An opportunity will be offered for you to pay the entire fee for the first time!
.
Parent Orientation Meeting
Please make arrangements to attend a Parent Orientation Meeting on June 23rd at 6 pm via Zoom. A link will be emailed and posted for you to attend. All fee payments and other important information will be discussed at this time.

I have attempted to answer all of the questions that are on most minds at the present.  You may contact me at cdeen@acpsd.net   No question is a stupid question.  It is the intent of the North Augusta Band Directors to have a quality program that attracts members and makes our community proud.  I look forward to your participation in the North Augusta High School Jacket Regiment!

Sincerely,
